The Rinks Foundation to Add KHS Ice Arena to Development Program
The Rinks adds Jr. Ice Dogs program and ninth skating rink to program
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Rinks Foundation has agreed in principle to add KHS Ice Arena in Anaheim to the organization’s Rinks Development Program. Rebranded THE RINKS - KHS ICE, the facility is scheduled to open under The Rinks umbrella on June 27. Future refurbishments and improvements to the existing facility are scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.
With the addition of KHS ICE, The Rinks will also add Jr. Ice Dogs program, consisting of seven youth hockey teams from ages 8-18. The Jr. Ice Dogs program will remain the same throughout the 2022-23 season. The Jr. Ice Dogs program joins several youth hockey organizations overseen by The Rinks Development Program, including the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, Anaheim Lady Ducks, San Diego Jr. Gulls and Orange County Hockey Club. The Jr. Ducks and Lady Ducks are recognized as Model Club Associations through USA Hockey, and are dedicated to age-appropriate, age-specific skill development, in accordance with USA Hockey’s American Development Model.
"It’s exciting to add two additional sheets of ice as we grow The Rinks Development Program in Southern California," said Vice President of The Rinks Art Trottier. "KHS Ice Arena will continue to be a great community asset as hockey and ice skating continues to grow in our region. We look forward to integrating the Jr. Ice Dogs program into our youth hockey setup with the Jr. Ducks to continue to support, grow and develop players at every skill level."
KHS ICE joins a rinks program that includes facilities in Irvine (Great Park Ice & FivePoint Arena; THE RINKS – Irvine Inline), Anaheim (THE RINKS - Anaheim ICE), Lakewood (THE RINKS - Lakewood ICE), Poway (THE RINKS - Poway ICE), Westminster (THE RINKS - Westminster ICE), Yorba Linda (THE RINKS - Yorba Linda ICE), and Corona (THE RINKS - Corona Inline). The Anaheim Ducks originally launched The Rinks Development Program Feb. 13, 2009.
KHS ICE will offer youth and adult hockey programs, figure skating, a learn-to-skate program, public skating and broomball. Originally opened in 2006, the two-sheet Anaheim facility will also host group events, fundraisers and birthday parties.
